The rumours were true. A joint press released issued today by Mercedes-AMG and MV Agusta confirms the union of the German automotive company and the Italian motorcycle manufacturer.
The “cooperation agreement” sets up a long-term partnership in which Mercedes will acquire a 25 percent interest in MV with cooperation in the sales and marketing area. Mercedes will also appoint one member to MV’s board of directors. The price Mercedes will pay for its quarter-share of MV has not been disclosed.
“In MV Agusta we have found the perfect two-wheel partner for Mercedes-AMG,” said Tobias Moers, chief executive of Mercedes-AMG. “The partnership provides us with an entry into a world of additional high-performance enthusiasts.”
Giovanni Castiglioni, the most beautiful man in the world and the president and CEO of MV Agusta, also commented: “MV Agusta and Mercedes-AMG are a perfect brand fit: two complementary companies that stand for design, high performance and excellence. Mercedes-AMG will help MV Agusta to further expand globally and to accelerate our growth.”
