Sykes says hand is healing

Defending World Superbike champion Tom Sykes says his hand is on the mend, according to a report on Crash.net. The Kawasaki rider injured his hand in a collision with teammate Loris Baz, the incident occurring during WSBK’s last round in Sepang. WSBK makes a stop at the Marco Simoncelli World Circuit in Italy this weekend, and questions about how fit Sykes will be are looming.

“My hand is slowly improving,” Sykes told Crash.net. “We are back on track this weekend, so we will see how we go for the races on Sunday. I will have a good chat with my crew chief Marcel on Thursday at Misano and we will see how we can arrive at the best possible race scenario on Sunday.”

After crashing out in Sepang and losing valuable championship points, Sykes’ lead in the overall standings has been reduced to 13 points.
