Yamaha has announced two all-new models for Canada in 2011, the chopper-inspired Stryker and the Super Ténéré, their adventure tourer aimed as an alternative to BMW’s R1200GS. Canadian pricing on both new machines is pending.
Powered by a fuel-injected, liquid-cooled, 1199cc parallel-twin claiming 110HP and 84 lb-ft of torque, the Super Ténéré features Yamaha’s proprietary ride-by-wire throttle system with switchable engine mapping and 3-mode traction control. Intelligent unified ABS, allowing separate rear brake application, comes as standard, as do adjustable suspension and seat. Unveiled in Europe in February, the Super Ténéré will arrive here as an early 2012 release next spring, says Yamaha. More photos here and full specs here.
The Stryker, combines a 1304cc, liquid cooled, fuel-injected V-twin mill and a chassis with a 34-degree rake and 6-degree yoke offset and a 1,750 mm (68.9 inch) wheelbase, to create a motorcycle with “arm-stretching” torque, custom chopper styling, and easy low speed handling, says Yamaha.
