From the circuit tracks to walks through the streets at the hands of Lord Drake Kustoms.
Unexpectedly, the Lord Drake Kustoms team received a visit from a 2003 Ducati 999 in their workshop in Vélez Málaga (Spain).
Its owner wanted to transform it into a Ducati Cafe Racer. Francisco Alí Manen (owner of Lord Drake Kustoms), decided that there should be no limits when it comes to customizing motorcycles and decided to accept the challenge to carry out a motorcycle transformation that had hitherto been rarely seen.
It is not very common to use this brand to make motorcycle transformations, perhaps some models from the Monster range are the most used. In addition, the Italian brand has been offering a somewhat factory-customized model for some time, known as the Ducati Scrambler.
But what is very strange is using Racing motorcycle models like this to carry out motorcycle customization work.
Because it is a very racing motorcycle and it originally comes with a fairing, windshield, etc., the first thing the LDK team did was remove all the plastics. Subsequently, Fran Manen decided that the original wheels were not the most suitable and that they had to be changed for new custom spoked rims valid for this Ducati.
It was clear that it was not going to be a normal Ducati Cafe Racer, it was going to be more of a Naked motorcycle with a Cafe Racer feel, hence its name “Neo Racer”. And so that it didn’t look like a Street Fighter-type transformation, the entire subframe was modified in a very elegant way and without giving it much height.
The exhaust manifolds were modified to finish them in a 2:1 system with the adaptation of a Harley Davidson Supertrapp silencer.
A new lithium motorcycle battery was installed that was duly relocated and hidden with a handmade metal cover, a handmade front fender was manufactured and the height of the motorcycle was modified to give it this calmer and more classic street touch.
Motogadget mini odometer, round mirrors accompanied by motogadget handlebar turn signals along with a Harley V-Rod type headlight, were another of the details that completed this beautiful customized motorcycle with a totally innovative style.
The powder painting technique, also known as podwer coating, was applied to most of the pieces. The tank was painted in the traditional system and finished with a classic Ducati graphic, which was covered with gloss lacquer.
