Toronto-based Professional Motor Sports Productions has confirmed the initial broadcast dates for TSN (The Sports Network) coverage of the Bridgestone Canadian Superbike Championship national pro events.
In 2023, all eleven GP Bikes Pro Superbike races and ten Liqui Moly Pro Sport Bike races will be broadcast on the network for a total of 21 episodes, beginning in June and aired through November.
TSN’s coverage of the CSBK tour is title sponsored by Economy Lube & Tire, and is a production of Bell Media and ESPN.
The premier GP Bikes Pro Superbike episode will be round one, race one at Shannonville Motorsport Park, scheduled for Tuesday, June 20 at 1:30 pm ET on both TSN3 and TSN4.
The premier of the Liqui Moly Pro Sport Bike class opener is slated for Monday, June 26 at 2 pm ET on both TSN4 and TSN5.
The feature Superbike category will also bring on a new host for 2023, with Canadian Football League (CFL) on TSN play-by-play announcer Marshall Ferguson joining the CSBK video team.
A former McMaster University quarterback and Calgary Stampeders training camp invitee, Ferguson has since become a fan of most types of motorsports, leading him to the Bridgestone CSBK series for 2023.
“The precision, intensity and physical ability of everyone involved with CSBK is nothing short of jaw-dropping,” explained Ferguson at the Shannonville national opener. “I’m honoured to tell their stories in what will be a very special season of high-end competition!”
Ferguson will next work TSN’s Ottawa Redblacks vs Calgary Stampeders match on Thursday, June 15th, and again for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats against the Toronto Argonauts in the defending Grey Cup champion’s home opener on Sunday, June 18th.
Handling the colour commentary duties on Superbike broadcasts will be TSN veteran Colin Fraser, who first appeared on the network in the late 1980’s. Journalist and former racer Fraser has handled exclusive CSBK colour duties since 1995, and has also worked with broadcasters in the United States.
As for Liqui Moly Pro Sport Bike, the same dynamic duo will handle the on-air responsibilities in 2023, as former racer and long-time event and television host Frank Wood returns with colour commentator Michael Leon.
Joining the broadcast team in 2022, Leon still competes in the feature Superbike category for the Royal Distributing BMW team, though he is currently recovering from a broken collar bone suffered prior to round one.
