Triumph Announces the 2011 Sprint GT

By Cycle CanadaPosted on

Five years after introducing the 1050cc Sprint ST sport tourer, Triumph is launching the Sprint GT, a new variation designed for more touring and less sport, according to the UK manufacturer.

Powered by an upgraded liquid cooled, 1050cc 3-cylinder engine now claiming 128hp and 80 ft.lbs of torque, the Sprint GT is built on the ST’s twin-spar aluminium beam frame but features a newly designed fairing, 31 litre panniers as standard and an optional topbox, big enough for two full-face helmets, that comes with built in 12 volt power socket for recharging electrical gadgets while riding. Suspension has been revised for improved touring performance says Triumph and ABS is standard.

The Sprint GT is priced at $14,399 CAD and will be available in Canada this fall as a 2011 model.

Cycle Canada assistant editor Uwe Wachtendorf will be riding the Sprint GT from Scotland to Triumph’s Hinckley plant in Leicestershire, England next week. We’ll have more details and his first ride impressions for you then, so stay tuned.
