2008 BMW R1200GS Recall

By: Cycle Canada Published on 20 November 2009

Transport Canada has announced a recall of the 2008 R1200GS and R1200GS Adventure.

BMW Recall(#2009321)

Models Involved: 2008 R1200GS and R1200GS Adventure

Number of Vehicles: 102

Problem:  On certain motorcycles, high generator speeds combined with large demands for electrical current could cause spurious signals to emerge within the electrical system. This could affect the pressure sensor signals of the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) control unit, which in turn could cause the ABS to switch off. The telltale light in the instrument panel would illuminate to notify that the ABS function is not available.

Correction:  Dealers will install a capacitor meant to block interfering electrical signals.
