Key updates include revised cam profile, the use of electronic throttle valves, optimised ECU settings, and updated Kawasaki Quick Shifter (KQS) – now functional at a lower rpm – and gearing.

The chassis was also updated with a revised gusset for added rigidity and flatter seat rails, allowing for thicker rider and passenger seats for added comfort. Revised suspension settings contribute to improved handling and a more planted feel. Brakes were updated as well with radial-mounted calipers for stronger braking performance and a lighter lever pull.

The Z900 features refined Sugomi styling and new premium aluminum trim pieces for an elevated street presence that highlight the signature Z styling. The model receives a fresh new look with a more compact front cowl and LED lighting all around. For 2025, the wheels are fitted with a pair of Dunlop Sportmax Q5A tires.

ALL-NEW – 2025 W230

  • Trusted and proven 233cc single-cylinder engine
  • ABS brakes
  • Epitome of the beginner motorcycle: only 143 kg (315 lb), low seat height of 740 mm (29.1 in), predictable handling and power delivery, relaxed riding position
  • Retro flare: air-cooled design, elegant chrome peashooter muffler, teardrop fuel tank with vintage W badging, analog instrumentation

New riders can now get their own adventure on two wheels started in style with the all-new 2025 W230. This entry-level W marks a significant expansion into the popular 250cc category with a 233cc retro sport motorcycle that combines timeless style with modern accessibility. It was designed with beginners in mind and offers a light and agile ride that will allow them to get in the saddle without compromising on design and quality.

The 233cc single-cylinder engine at the heart of the W230 has already proven its reliability and sturdiness in the KLX230 dual-sport and KLX230R dirtbike, but in this case was tuned for a road application for a more linear delivery. The ergonomics also cater to new riders with an overall natural and relaxed riding geometry that gives riders full control over their ride and is ideal for those looking to build experience.

Kawasaki believes that entry-level motorcycles deserve premium styling, and the W230 is guaranteed to turn heads with retro design cues borrowed from the W800 including chrome components, peashooter exhaust tip, wire-spoke wheels, teardrop tank, analog dial instrumentation, and dual rear shocks.

Pricing for the 2025 W230 starts at $6,100.
