Ryan Dungey has won the Best Action Sport Athlete award in the 23rd annual ESPY awards. The supercross champ came first in a public vote, beating out a slew of skateboarders, snowboarders, and snowcross racers – even FMX star Josh Sheehan.

“Wow! Just found out I won the ESPY!” Dungey said. “It’s a very exciting day for the sport of motocross and supercross and how far we have come to achieve this award! Without a doubt wouldn’t have been possible without my wife and family, friends, sponsors and most importantly fans. Thank you all for yours support, love, and votes, and everyone who had a part in making this dream come true. So very thankful!”
