Five-time Daytona 200 winner Miguel Duhamel, who hasn’t competed in an AMA road race since early 2009, will return to race in AMA Superbike at the 2010 Laguna Seca round, July 25. Second on the all-time AMA Superbike wins list, (behind Mat Mladin) the Canadian road racing legend has teamed up with San Diego dealer Moto Forza and NovaTac Racing to ride a Ducati 1098R and help raise awareness for TERI (Training, Education & Research Institute), a non-profit agency helping children and adults with autism and other developmental and learning disabilities.
“We are very happy to have the opportunity to combine our passion for racing with TERI’s efforts,” says Moto Forza owner Balz Renggli, owner of Moto Forza. “We applaud their openness to explore new avenues of communication to bring this growing disability to the public’s eye, and to have Miguel Duhamel join us in that effort is simply phenomenal.”
Planned as a one-time event, Renggli admits there is a possibility of entering future rounds as well, saying, “If we can secure funding, more races later this year may be possible. We will continue to work with TERI and our current sponsors to see what we can put together after Laguna.”
