WSBK: Biaggi Doubles Again at Misano

By Cycle CanadaPosted on

Max Biaggi (Aprilia Alitalia) took his fourth double win of the year at Misano today, further increasing his lead in the championship standings. Superpole winner Troy Corser (BMW’s first superpole victory) lead for 16 laps in race one before yielding to Biaggi, and then Carlos Checa (Althea Ducati) to finish third.

Corser lead for a time in race two as well, but setup changes made to his S1000RR during the break failed to pay the intended dividends and the Australian slipped back to sixth and then finished tenth after going off the track in the final lap.

Leon Haslam (Suzuki Alstare) improved on an eighth place finish in race one to go second in race two, and remain within striking distance of Biaggi for the final five rounds of the year. Xerox Ducati rider Michel Fabrizio rounded out the race two podium. Max Biaggi now has 307 points in the overall championship , Haslam 270 and Carlos Checa 172.
