The cruiser, despite the predictions of some naysayers, is alive and well, thank you. Manufacturers ranging from Boss Hoss to Yamaha continue to produce motorcycles with a low seat height, a stretched wheelbase, fat rear tire and wide handlebar, and our Cruisers, Retros and Touring Bikes Buyer’s Guide has never been more full of—well, you decide.
The retro theme is also chugging along quite strongly, and there are some surprising additions to the theme this year.
The touring category is steaming along well, too, as manufacturers understand that touring riders like, above all else, to ride. Amenities like Bluetooth connectivity and ABS brakes are becoming commonplace and sophisticated electronic ride controls are entering the market, making bikes smarter, more convenient, and safer.
There are new models from a number of manufacturers here, big and small, cruiser, retro, and tourer, and engines have never been more powerful, frames more well-designed, rear tires fatter, and seats lower.
